Claus Simandi (Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Design and Trademark Attorney) has been working in industrial property law since 1997.

Claus is a graduate chemist and completed a post-graduate course in industrial property law at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He was a scholarship holder of the European Patent Office in the CEIPI / Section Internationale of the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg.

His key activities comprise supporting patent granting procedures and opposition proceedings, as well as defence and licensing and legal enforcement of inventions, especially in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and diagnostics.

Claus is involved in the development of both general and specific patent strategies as well as IP portfolios on a regular basis. Additionally, he specializes in due diligence processes and preparing reports on freedom to operate.

Before founding his firm in 2006, he worked in industrial property law in the patent department at Aventis Research & Technologies, Frankfurt (Hoechst AG) and also in the patent department at Hoffmann La Roche, Basel as well as at Dreiss Patentanwälte in Stuttgart.

Claus has been involved in the Science4Life start-up initiative as an industry expert and network partner since 1999. He has been holding seminars on patent law at the Akademie Heidelberg since 2010. He speaks German, English and French.
